Signed and dated within plate on the top right, "Fortuny; Roma 65".
An etching by the Catalan Romanticist Mariano Fortuny (y Marsal). The subject of the etching references the Greek myth of the shepherd Daphnis, lover of the god Pan. This work would serve as the inspiration for the famous Wilhelm von Gloeden photograph, Sicilian boy playing the flute, cat. no. 0354.
Plate: 7 7/8 x 5 5/8 in. (20 x 14.4 cm).
Frame: 17 3/4 x 15 7/8 in. (45.1 x 40.3 cm).
