An intimate portrait of a Greek sailor by the contemporary artist Michail Tsakountis. This work, from the Homage to Tsarouchis series, plays on the common visual motifs of the gay Greek artist Yannis Tsarouchis, depicting a rugged Navy sailor in a Greek petty officer's uniform, one of Tsarouchis' most frequent subjects. The painting's background also features Tsarouchis' infamous dusty pink palette, while the artist's signature in majorelle blue is a personal homage to Michail's time spent painting in Marrakesh, Morocco.
