A documentarian photo taken by the Universal Pictorial Press and Agency Ltd., one of the oldest independent press photo agencies in the United Kingdom. This image, produced for an editorial on "Homosexual Couples: Gays + Lesbians" is a photograph of the October 14, 1979, National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. The notation on the verso provides further context, reading, "OUT IN THE OPEN: Not only just in America, in Washington D.C. where this photograph was taken, or at organised events or demonstrations, homosexual couples are increasingly open about their feelings in public."
