'Still life' Oil on canvas. 24 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches. 29 1/2 x 23 1/2 inches (overall). Framed. A curious 19th Century painting with both neoclassical and modern qualities. It should be noted that the lower brown line is not an unpainted area of the canvas, but a painted monochromatic line suggesting the table's edge and again a typically more modern gesture. Provenance: Burchard Galleries (2007) and then cataloged as 19th Century Italian (though there are other qualities to suggest it might be American Italian Renaissance Revival Era); Estate of Harvey E. Gutman US Foreign Service.
Minor craquelure a few insignificant areas of possible inpainting Period frame has some loss.
