'Wanted!' Charcoal on trace vellum. The figure to the left appeared in illustrations Steve Masters did for Physique Pictorial Magazine (Bob Mizer, editor), and in all likelihood the scene appeared in Physique Pictorial. 13 x 17".
Steve Masters had a short but fascinating life that included being a Marlboro Man model and a prolific homoerotic illustrator whose homoerotic artwork was largely destroyed after his suicide by his ex-wife. He had a successful career as a commercial artist and fashion illustrator, was filmed as the top with Sam Steward as the bottom by Alfred Kinsey (the film is at the Kinsey Institute), and was a leather bar muralist. These are just a few of the highlights of the fascinating artist's life.
