Throughout the 1980s, Hale was living and working out of his studio in the East Village, NYC, and this work would appear to be from that period. Hale was at the time slated to illustrate a Madonna album cover, a major commission, but tragically Hale became too ill to complete and that Herb Ritts subsequently took over.
Provenance: the estate of the artist.
