Trestle Work-Dining table. Walnut and veneered plywood. The table separates into three parts (the table-top and two trestle supports). 96 3/8" L x 48 3/8" W x 28 30 1/4" H. Provenance: Olaf Skoogfors (artist-metalsmith, 1930 - 1975); Judith Skoogfors-Prip (artist-teacher, 1934 - 2022).

Note: A scarce example of this important American (Philadelphia) mid-century furniture maker. It was designed and built for the Skoogfors in Philadelphia in the 1960s and continued to be used by Judith Skoogfors and her second husband, the famed silversmith John Axel Prips, in their Rhode Island studio until Judith Skoogfors' death.

Jackson was trained by the woodworker Tage Frid also a close associate of the Skoogfors and John Axel Prip. Jackson established the woodworking department at Philadelphia College of Art, where Olaf Skoogfors was then a professor in the Crafts Department. Surviving examples of Jackson's designs are very rare, and this unique design was built for Skoogfors and later used by Judith Skoogfors and Prips for their creative work, including her fabric designs and lithography work. This table comes directly from their Rhode Island studio.
