A custom made arts & crafts style Aubusson rug for the Meredith Hare "Pigeon Hill" estate.
1919-1920.
Hand woven, with tie-off wefts visible on the underside, with depictions of collared stags, mythical beasts, black birds or ravens, love birds, grapes, and other botanicals, on a mixed pink, purple, brown field.
This rug is is one of three custom crafted Aubusson rugs original to Meredith Hare and his wife Elizabeth Sage Hare’s Huntington, Long Island estate, Pidgeon Hill, which was designed by Charles A. Platt circa 1918.

Some discoloration in three corners. Otherwise condition is consistent with age and use.
