The War is not over Support Susan Saxe.' Off-set lithograph with screen-printing. Circa 1975. 16 x 21 1/4; 22 1/4 x 27" (framed).
Saxe was arrested in 1975 for a 1970 Weather Underground bank robbery. Saxe had evaded capture through a network of queer advocates. She is one of a few women to ever have made the FBI's Most Wanted list. After her arrest she appealed to fellow feminists and lesbians for support.
Following her release from prison Saxe became a social justice advocate and radical feminist.
This very rare screen-printed poster is from Cell 16 (1968 - 1973) and the collection of Peter Gillis, a Boston teacher who was a feminist and social justice advocate.
We could find only one other recorded example of this rare screen-print. See, The Oakland Museum of Fine Art, for another example of this uncommon and still controversial graphic.
