"Gloucester Harbor." Etching. After a painting by: W.M. Hunt. Circa 1880. 20 3/4 x 27 1/2 inches (overall); 13 x 19 3/8 plate. Signed in plate. A very rich inked impression. State unknown, however, given the provenance and richness of the impression, likely a first or early state. Provenance: From the collection of J.A.S. Monks (American painter, 1850 - 1917) and to the present consignor, his great-grandson.
Paper is laid on board and has loss at edges. Paper has lifted in areas suggesting that it's glued and not dry-mounted and that it may possibly be removed from the board. Light toning and matboard marks from prior framing. (Please note, this is not a full condition report.
