Self-Portrait.' Woodblock. 1957. Signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil. Edition of 30. 13 x 9 1/2" (sheetsize).

No records of this print can be found. It is believed to be scarce.

While working as an assistant to the Mexican painter Diego Rivera, Michelle Stuart began a relationship with the Catalan artist Josep Bartolí. In 1953, after Bartoli had ended his affair with Rivera's wife Frida Kahlo, Stuart and Bartoli quickly married and moved to Paris. In 1957 they moved to New York City, which is when this woodblock was created.
