Four (4) works depicting men in botanical scenes within stylized art nouveau borders. Ink and graphite on watercolor paper. Signed "MATT" in ink and "CK" in pencil. Largest: 11 x 8 1/2".
These works were in all likelihood done as part of Kerb's work in New Orleans and in particular his poster illustrations and department store murals during the time he was living and working as an artist in New Orleans.
"During the 1970s, Kerbs also worked for D.H. Holmes, designing an art nouveau mural for the company's Bourbon Street restaurant as well as elaborate holiday displays." Wikipedia.
Provenance: Acquired from the artist and then an estate bequest to an international institution, deaccessioned through Vallots because the artwork did not fit the institution's mission.
Condition
Each work is affixed to a backing page by two pieces of adhesive tape on the top edge. Some creasing near the affixed edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
