A Southern or South American Scene. Oil on artist board. 9 3/4 x 14 inches. Initialed lower left. This black, white and sepia toned painting is from Monks' personal collection. This painting was likely done for a book or newspaper illustration and returned to him after it was reproduced. Provenance: From the collection of J.A.S. Monks (American painter, 1850 - 1917) and to the present consignor, his great-grandson.
Condition
A few scattered abrasions. Minor handling wear. Minor warping to board. Some spots of loss.
