"A Woman Peasant's Home," (Near Seine, France); and also identified as, "Peasant's Doorway." Gouache on paper. 11 1/2 x 8 inches; 19 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches (overall). Signed lower left. Includes correspondence between the artist and purchaser of the painting and with apologies from the artist for the painting not being shipped from Newport on time. ("I relied on the packer in Newport to carry out my instructions. I now find out he did not ship it until the 16th as he tells me a sad tale of his helper not showing up, etc.")
Some tiny specks of loss and craquelure observed around area above signature and inside door. UV light did not detect any anomalies. . Not examined out of the frame.
