"Souvenir of Ninigret." 1898. Oil on board. Signed, titled, dated on the lower right. Inscribed verso, "H. Cyrus Farnum, 603 Butler Exchange, Prov, RI." Framed. 6 1/2 x 4 1/2" (sight); 10 x 8 x 1" (overall).
Provenance: property of a Massachusetts collector.
Notes:
Herbert Cyrus Farnum (1866-1925) was an American landscape artist born in Glocester, Rhode Island. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and later studied under J. Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant at the Académie Julian.
