Behind the cracked mirror..., 1978.

Polagraph (Chemically adjusted and collaged polaroid).

Titled, signed, and dated in ink along the bottom margin; Signed and dated in ink on the bottom right of the mat.

An erotic "polagraph" created by the filmmaker and experimental artist Fritz André Kracht. Born in Cologne, Germany, Kracht developed his own methodology for subverting the "foolproof process" of the traditional polaroid. Kracht adjusted the chemical compositions of his photographs, leading to unusual developments in the exposure process. After exposure, he manually manipulated and collaged elements of the photo, creating his "polagraphs". Kracht has left a unique legacy in both photography and filmmaking with his avant-garde techniques, and his works have been exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Leslie Lohman Museum of Art, the Kunstmuseum in Bern, RoB Gallery in Amsterdam, and many more.
