Bronze Sculpture, after Michelangelo's "Day (Giorno)" on the lid of the sarcophagus of Giuliano de Medici. Decorative reduction, formerly an architectural element or part of a furnishing, possibly the side of a neoclassical fireplace fender. Signature at the back of figure, "Barbedienne Fondeur." Foundry seal on the flat side of sculpture, "Reduction Mechanique". 14 1/2 x 14 x 5".
Provenance: property of a western Massachusetts collection.
Condition
Aged worn patina, some paint residue and some polish accretion.
