These are likely preparatory sketches for Kurtz's bronze sculptures. They draw on Egyptian and Greek (Hermaphroditus) imagery. Hermaphroditus was a common subject in ancient Greek and Roman art; however, while early 20th-century depictions of intersex people are uncommon. Every lot is sold "as is," "where is," and "without warranty," whether express or implied. Art has not been examined outside of the frame unless otherwise stated.
