Bavent, Normandy France. Fiance roof owl. From the Earl Wise, Jr. (Wise Potato Chips founder) Pennsylvania modernist residence. Commissioned through the Mayhew Shop (603 Madison Avenue, NYC), circa 1940. Marked on base. 21 x 14 inches sight. Mounting hole on turquoise base. Provenance: Earl Wise, Sr. and thereafter by descent.
Nothing unfavorable to note. Used as a decorative article by the family and there are no signs of installation or use around turquoise base mounting hole or in the finish.
