A-House (Atlantic House) Provincetown. 20 posters mostly on card stock advertising parties at the A-House in the early to mid 1990s.

The A-House (Atlantic House) was built in 1798. It was a tavern that catered to the whaling industry and a stagecoach stop before becoming a discreet gay bar until the 1950s, when philanthropist and art collector Reginald Warren Cabral began to run the A-House as an openly gay establishment. Cabral kept the nautical theme, including whale bones and harpoons, but also incorporated his contemporary art collection (e.g., Warhol and Haring) into the mix. Some of the graphics in this collection incorporate Andy Warhol imagery (Cabral was a Warhol collector), and several were designed by the late artist Steph Gorkii (American, 1972–2018), and several are signed and inscribed by Gorkii. Some appear to be designed by other unidentified artists and designers. It is unknown how many of these posters were created; given that they were used to promote summer parties, it is likely that few were made and even fewer were not used and saved.

Condition

Every lot is sold "as is," "where is," and "without warranty," whether express or implied. Art has not been examined outside of the frame unless otherwise stated.

Our auction items are antique and vintage, often from estates, and are not in perfect condition. They often show normal signs of age, use, and wear, which might not be specified in a condition report. Bidders are responsible for determining the physical condition of items prior to bidding. The absence of a condition report does not indicate the absence of condition issues with the lot. Requests for condition reports, additional photographs, or a video inspection can be obtained via email at: info@Vallots.com (any condition statement given is offered as an opinion and should not be treated as a statement of fact).

All bids are final. We do not offer refunds based on item description, condition, or any other reason.
